On July 30, 2016, Luke Aikins successfully jumped from an airplane at an altitude of 25,000 feet and landed safely without a parachute while traveling 115 miles per hour. John Cruikshank was project manager and engineer for the deceleration system called the “Trap”. This was a stunt never done before, and John worked with the A Team from the project concept helping come up with a solution that worked magnificently.

JMC² were the project civil engineers for the renovation of the existing 30,500 sqft Old Rampart Police Station who work closely with the architect’s team and the City of Los Angeles (City) staff. The engineering work included site investigations, client meetings, grading plans, detention basin design, utility plans, hydrology report, demolition plans, LEED calculations, B-permit plans, cost estimates, specifications, plan processing, and construction phase services.

This was the first LACCD BIM project where work included demolition plans, utilities, grading, hydrology, site drainage, fire access plans, construction estimates, specifications, survey staking, and QSD services (SWPPP development) for this LEED-platinum building development.

Civil engineers for the analysis and preparation of Utility Plans, Utility Details, and Sewer Plan and Profile for a new, high school facility, which included fire, flow water, domestic water, sewer, closed circuit TV, telephone, electrical, gas, reclaimed water, cable TV, and lighting. For this project, it was required to develop three main utility corridors to properly carry the utilities to three new buildings, five sports facilities, stadium press box, one parking structure, and one parking lot.
